Lana Del Rey - National Anthem (Official Video)
The latest from Lana Del Rey featuring A$AP Rocky is an absolute masterpiece.
"National Anthem" is an incredible tune, but this video is a true work of art.
Brilliantly scripted, beautifully written.
Matt & Kim - Let's Go
Diggin this new tune from Brooklyn pop duo, Matt and Kim.
"Let's Go" is a great little ditty and the video features legendary ball handler Pat the Roc.
Black Taxi - Do What You Gotta Do (Official Video)
New York City jam and glam rockers Black Taxi have released a fun and creative new video.
"Do What You Gotta Do" was directed and edited by Drew Higgins.
Eddie Vedder + Tom Petty - The Waiting (Live in Amsterdam)
Eddie Vedder joined Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers onstage at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam last night and took the lead vocals on the Petty classic, "The Waiting"
I would have gone absolutely bonkers.
Matisyahu - Sunshine (Official Video)
I'm sure that I am not alone in saying this, but it is strange to see Matisyahu without his Orthodox gear.
Strange, but I think by shedding that part of himself disallows anyone to refer to him as gimmicky.
"Sunshine" is a beautiful reggae-rock fusion by a hip young dude embracing his Israili homeland.
I'm diggin the fuck outta this song and, of course, the old Suzuki in the desert is perfection.
O'Brother - Higher (Creed cover/prank on Thrice)
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Everybody's On The Run (Official Video)
I think every rock fan on the planet between the ages of 25 and 45 were curious about this record.
And to my pleasant surprise, Noel Gallagher hit it out of the park with his High Flying Birds.
"Everybody's On The Run" is the killer single from his solo project debut.
The Royal Concept - Gimme Twice (Official Video)
Regular readers will know I have been a huge fan of The Royal Concept for a while now.
Their official video for the smash single "Gimme Twice" dropped today and it is as wild as the song.
Rock n Roll, hot chicks, broken bottles, and a whole lot more.
Eytan and The Embassy - Everything Changes (Official Video)
Check out my buddy Eytan in his new video that broke a world record!
Eytan & The Embassy set the record for most costume changes in an undedited music video.
"Everything Changes" is one of the most creative clips I have ever seen.
Cheers to the record and congratulations on a killer tune.
Races - Lies (Official Video)
Some songs grow on you, while others hook you in a matter of seconds - which is all it took for me to fall head over heels in love with this tune.
The vocals are really special here, both main and backing, while the dreamy pop/rock vibe conflicts magically with the lonely, beautifully expressive lyrics in "Lies"
Los Angeles - based Races has added a new fan and I'll be at Mercury Lounge on July 27th.
Best Coast - The Only Place (Official Video)
This might be my favorite video of 2012 thus far...
Best Coast created a visual love letter to their home of LA for their single, "The Only Place"
And although New York is my first love, Los Angeles will always be my mistress.
Usher - Pumped Up Kicks (BBC Radio 1)
Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking...
But get that negativity out of your head right now because Usher absolutely crushed this.
Covering Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks" for BBC Radio 1 Live Lab.
Nailed it.
Tonal - Igintion (Official Video)
For all you fans of electronic chillwave, peep this great new song by Tonal.
"Ignition" is quite peaceful and compliments the rain beautifully.
Goodlooking Trash - I Searched For Gold (Official Video)
A buddy just turned me onto this incredible Scandinavian act, Goodlooking Trash.
These guys are not a new band, but they are sure as hell new to me.
So I figured I'd share my favorite song with all of you.
"I Searched For Gold" is most awesome.
Metric - Youth Without Youth (Official Video)
I have not been able to stop listening to the new Metric single since it came out this spring.
"Youth Without Youth" is so dirty, nasty, sexy, rock n roll that it commands your attention immediately.
And the video is perfectly stripped down and artistic so we can focus on that RIFF.
Marry me, Miss Emily Haines... xxx
Carly Rae Jepsen + Jimmy Fallon - Call Me Maybe
Finally, the greatest showman in late night television has jumped on the "Call Me Maybe" bandwagon.
Jimmy Fallon and the Roots crew perform a stripped-down version of Carly Rae Jepsen's smash hit.
"Call Me Maybe" played backstage at Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon. Amazeballz.
Doomtree - Beacon (Official Video)
Get More: www.mtvu.com
Doomtree's new video for their insane new single "Beacon" premiered on MTV's 120 Minutes today.
Killer beat, futuristic synths, and rhymes that are absolutely fucking BONKERS.
And I'm really diggin on the steampunk vibe for the video.
Crushin it, as always.
Gaslight Anthem - 45 (Official Video)
The Gaslight Anthem is definitely one of my favorite bands to come out of New Jersey... ever.
"45" brings their signature thrashing guitars, whiskey-burned vocals, and epic choruses to new heights.
This band rocks so hard that it actually hurts me on the inside, in the best of ways.
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals - Never Go Back (Official Video)
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals have yet another hit on their hands with "Never Go Back"
This is a tight, funky single with an outrageously fun video that conjures up Where the Wild Things Are.
More please, Miss Potter.
Katie Herzig - Lost and Found (Official Video)
I'm on my third spin of this new Katie Herzig record and it becomes more charming with each listen.
"Lost and Found" - co-written with Cason Cooley - has an anthemic vibe that feels like prayer.
I love her voice, the choral backing vocals, the driving beat, and the marching song progression.
This is the type of gem that makes you want to run through a meadow or put the top down and drive...
Dub Mentor - Twist in My Sobriety (Official Video)
I was recently turned on to a really cool Tel Aviv record label called EnT-T (pronounced entity)
The track features two of their acts, Dub Mentor and French songstress Lidwine.
"Twist In My Sobriety" is, of course, an 80s classic by Tanita Tikaram.
Die Antwoord - Baby's On Fire (Official Video)
I can not think of a more sick and twisted crew in recent years than South Africa's Die Antwoord.
And that is precisely why they not only deserve your respect, but why they immediately commanded mine.
"Baby's On Fire" is just as fucked up as anything they've thrown at us so far, and I fucking love it.
GOOD Music - Mercy (Official Video)
Kanye West aka Yeezy's new label, GOOD Music, dropped a new video.
Outstandingly directed by industry vet, Nabil Elderkin, it's visually stunning and brilliant in its simplicity.
"Mercy" featuring Big Sean, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz is straight up hypnotic.
The Darkness - Every Inch of You (Lyric Video)
This is hands-down the greatest lyric video ever created.
"Every Inch of You" from The Darkness starts out super hot and turns into super fun.
I am all about this song and so, so stoked on this clip.
O Children - Chimera (Official Video)
Really diggin on this London quartet called O Children.
Tight riffs, punchy drums, and cruising vocals create a sound that progresses perfectly.
"Chimera" is a solid effort from their sophomore album released this week.
