Duchess Says - Antepoc
Ok, I'm going to go out on a limb and call this debaucherous noise punk.
Montreal's Duchess Says is absolutely, certifiably insane. And I fucking love it.
"Antepoc" simultaneously horrifies and electrifies every nerve in my body.
I want MORE.
We Are Knights - Tears
If Phoenix took a Valium and chilled the fuck out, they would sound like this.
We Are Knights, a Parisian electro pop act, is hypnotically dreamy, but keep it dark and cool.
Check out their song "Tears" and I promise, you'll be hooked...
Rhye - Open
I am head over heels in love with this Los Angeles pop act, Rhye.
"Open" has the haunting seduction of Sade and the visual sexiness of a Calvin Klein ad.
I'm a fool for your love, Rhye. xxx
Lambchop - Gone Tomorrow
I've been seeing Lambchop all over the place lately, so I finally decided to check em out.
"Gone Tomorrow" is the first, but certainly not the last, song I gave my undivided attention to.
And now I'm hooked, though I have absolutely no idea how to categorize them.
Awesome? Weird? Jamband? I have zero clue. Help? x
Record Labels Are Rubbish
Yasiin Bey - N****s in Poorest
Mos Def is the truth. So few come close. This is nothing shy of absolutely incredible.
Yasiin Bey - aka Mos - "N****s In Poorest" responds poetically to Jay & Yeezey's "Ni**as In Paris"
RESPECT.
Arctic Monkeys - R U Mine?
Killer new rock song from one of my favorite British bands, Arctic Monkeys.
"R U Mine?" has the loud riffs, booming vox, and tight arrangements we've come to expect.
How can you not love these guys? Amazing record. x
Jimmy Fallon as Eddie Vedder - Jeremy Lin
I'm a bit late to the party on this one, but I had to share for those that missed it too.
Jimmy Fallon's latest costume performance was of Eddie Vedder singing about Jeremy Lin.
Spectacular.
Marley: The Life, Music and Legacy of Bob Marley
This is one of those films that is going to be incredible, no matter how many times it's been done before...
From the website:
Bob Marley's universal appeal, impact on music history and role as a social and political prophet is both unique and unparalleled. MARLEY is the definitive life story of the musician, revolutionary, and legend, from his early days to his rise to international superstardom. Made with the support of the Marley family, the film features rare footage, incredible performances and revelatory interviews with the people that knew him best.
From Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald (One Day In September, The Last King of Scotland) comes the story of a towering figure of musical history, whose music and message has transcended different cultures, languages and creeds to resonate around the world today as powerfully as when he was alive.
MARLEY will make its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival this month followed by its North American premiere at SXSW. Magnolia Pictures will release theatrically and on VOD on Friday, April 20th.
Dr. Dog - Warrior Man
The latest from Philly's Dr. Dog is a 60s throwback with fuzzy guitars and an addictive chorus.
"Warrior Man" is proof that this band gets better and better with every release.
"Well, I am the ancient Warrior Man and I hail from the ancient Warrior Clan... "
Sing it with me now. x
MUTEMATH - Allies
Man Without Country - Puppets
This is straight out of a Terry Gilliam film, and it would fit perfectly on one of his soundtracks.
I love the tripped out video and the electro-shoegaze sound is at once cosmically new and old.
Man Without Country have been remixing for some of the hottest acts around throughout 2011, but are ready to release their own single "Puppets" on Lost Balloon / Cooperative Music on April 9th.
Hat tip to Crazed Hits for the post.
Husky - The Woods
I am really diggin "The Woods" from SubPop Records act, Husky.
A dreamy acid trip of a video guides this part lullaby, part siren song of the sea.
Typically, I lean towards music that is a bit more uplifting, but this is just quite lovely. x
Jay & Beyonce's Baby - SNL
One of the funniest SNL skits of the weekend was Jay & Beyonce's Baby.
Everyone was great, but Timberlake stole the show as Grammy-winner, Bon Iver.
Hi-larious. x
Skrillex - Bangarang
If you don't understand Dubstep, then you are probably over 30 and not in the music business.
Skrillex won a fucking Grammy for godssake. And Deadmou5 totally clowned him.
He showed up on the red carpet with a t-shirt with Skrillex' phone number on it.
Straight gangster hilarious shit.
This track is a fucking banger.
Turn up ya speakaz. x
Adele - 60 Minutes
The amazing and beautiful and timeless and perfect Adele.
Full 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper.
Enjoy. x
Interview: The Concept
Welcome to the PUMP Sessions Interview Series. The Concept is our first
international interview, so we’re extra excited to speak with you today. For
starters, please introduce yourselves…
PS: So where are you all from and how did you meet? How did the band come
together?
international interview, so we’re extra excited to speak with you today. For
starters, please introduce yourselves…
PS: So where are you all from and how did you meet? How did the band come
together?
TC: David is the only one from Stockholm, Magnus Robert and Frans
Povel are from the southwest of Sweden and Filip is from Croatia.
David and Filip started a duo together and five years later(spring
2011), the band became complete and we released our first single in
Sweden, D-d-dance.
Comparisons in my camp have ranged from French rockers, Phoenix, to your
fellow Swedes, The Sounds. So many artists are afraid or annoyed by that, but
I think it’s important to give the unfamiliar a familiar hint as to what they can
expect to hear. What are your thoughts on that? And what bands have you been
compared to in the press?
We have been compared to The Strokes, Phoenix, Daft Punk,
Two Door Cinema Club to name a few. We’ve been influenced by so many bands
and it would be stupid to deny it. People love comparing bands and pointing out
what they’ve heard and seen before. As for The Sounds, who the hell are they?
I feel like the UK and Sweden have consistently brought the hottest foreign rock
n roll to American shores for the last decade. And pop music, as well. Why do
you think that is? And what is so different about Sweden that creates so many
incredible, international acts, as opposed to other European countries?
It’s a combination of many things. We can’t speak for the UK but as
for Sweden, we have a long history of music that has been widely
appreciated abroad. Every business needs someone to lead the way.
During the 90’s Sweden was behind a lot of commercial stuff like
Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and so on. Since then a lot of artists
like Robyn and The Knife have shown the way out of that and built
something more unique. It’s quite remarkable for a country of our
size but a lot has to do with the fact that the Swedish market is small
and we have to seek opportunities elsewhere. In Sweden people
listen to music sung in Swedish and we sing in English so it’s natural
for us to hit it in the US.

Chris Cornell - I Will Always Love You
Chris Cornell performs Dolly's "I Will Always Love You" at an Obama rally in San Francisco.
An obvious tribute to Whitney Houston, this is incredible.
Hat tip to my buddy Jeff for the Tweet.
Rival Sons - All Over The Road
Rival Sons is my new favorite rock n roll band.
I was cranking The Parlor Mob on Spotify and these guys were in the Related Artists field.
Admittedly, I have seen their name a dozen times, and I've even seen photos of the band.
But for some horrible fucking reason they slipped under my radar... until now.
And for the last hour I have searched the web for everything I can possibly consume.
"All Over The Road" is a killer rock tune and a fun video, but it's not even their finest work.
Stop whatever you're doing, turn up your speakers, and thank me later. x
Wishes and Thieves - Forest Fire
You know those songs that you just don't seem to "get" the first time you hear them?
Well, for me, this was one of them. But a friend, and trusted source, is handling their PR, so I wanted to give them my full attention.
And by the fourth listen, New York City's Wishes and Thieves, has my undivided appreciation.
"Forest Fire" is a beautiful, meloncholic, dreamy adventure of the psyche that will infect you.
And now, a half dozen spins later, I will be dreaming about this song til the morning comes. x
Lights Resolve - With The Pieces
I'm really diggin the new video from New York rockers, Lights Resolve.
"With The Pieces" is a high energy crowd ignition, proved last month at Bowery Ballroom.
It's got strong vocals, deep bass grooves, and chugging riffs that build into choral explosions.
Directed and Edited by Dillon Novak.
Enjoy. x
John Gomm - Passionflower
This is absolutely, mind-blowingly, spectacularly incredible.
Jon Gomm turns his guitar into a one man band, and still manages to sing beautifully.
Hat tip to Lefsetz for the post, but please read this piece in the Daily Mail.
I hope thanks to Fry, the Mail, and now Lefsetz, this kid explodes worldwide. x
Walk The Moon - Anna Sun - Last Call
I've been a fan of Cincinnati's Walk The Moon ever since I stumbled onto them in early 2011.
Last fall they signed with RCA Records and have been on the road with Young the Giant.
Big congrats to the band on their television performance debut on Last Call w/ Carson Daly.
Filmed at The Wiltern in Hollywood, this clip captures the band's passion and talent perfectly.
For the music video for "Anna Sun" click HERE. x
Capital Cities - Safe and Sound (Official)
PUMP favorites and LA electro pop outfit Capital Cities has dropped their new video.
"Safe and Sound" is as crazy and ridiculous as their live performances.
Check out our interview with the band HERE.
And turn up your speakers for this one. x
The Cribs - Chi-Town
Really diggin the new single from UK post punkers, The Cribs.
Fell in love with this band a few years back with their smokin hot track NSFW, "Men's Needs"
They're touring the US in April with a Brooklyn stop on 4/13 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
Can't wait... x
The Ting Tings - Soul Killing
The Ting Tings are back.
The first track off their new album, Sounds from Nowheresville, is entitled "Soul Killing"
The song sits on a chilled out reggae beat with a chorus that is reminiscent of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall"
The album drops in the US on March 13.
Hopefully it kicks as much as their debut album, We Started Nothing, which was released on May 13th, 2008.
Sound City - A film by Dave Grohl (Teaser)
What's got two thumbs and is excited for this film? This guy.
Dave Grohl is putting together a documentary about legendary Los Angeles recording studio, Sound City, which was founded in 1969 and is the birthplace of some of America's greatest rock albums of all time.
Can't WAIT.
Jack White - Love Interrupted
The self-directed video from Jack's solo project dropped today.
"Love Interrupted" is a bare-bones, stripped-down love song with a whole lotta soul.
So, Happy Valentines Day, folks. x
Fun. - We Are Young
I have been in love with this song for months, but had no idea who sang it.
Thanks to a random post by a friend, I know it's New York pop punk band, Fun.
"We Are Young" features one of my favorite new pop stars, Janelle Monae.
This song is an arena-ready anthem.
Turn em up, kids. x
Crowe & Tarantulas CB750
The latest beast posted by my favorite custom motorcycle blog, Bike EXIF, is hands-down my personal favorite so far this year. I have seen hundreds, maybe thousands, of bikes over the past few years, but nothing like this. Stripped down to just a whole lot of metal, leather, and rubber.
Absolutely breathtaking. And inspirational to my current build on my own 1978 CB750.
Built by Crowe Customs and The Tarantulas...
It’s getting harder and harder to impress with a CB750 custom. But this machine, stripped back to bare finishes and muted colors, works a treat. ‘The Natural’ is a collaboration between two Portland, Oregon builders with complementary skills: Crowe Customs and The Tarantulas. “Scott of The Tarantulas wanted a clean and simple bike, with a vintage feel and raw finishes,” says James Crowe. “Scott’s built several bikes himself, so he was able to handle the mechanical aspects.”
Fifth Nation - No Woman Is A Rock
I absolutely adore the latest dream pop record from New York City's Fifth Nation.
"No Woman Is A Rock" is a quirky love affair featuring the Smith College a capella group The Smiffenpoofs.
This one is most certainly for the ladies, but I enjoyed it immensely. x
Jay-Z & Kanye West - Ni**as In Paris
BOOM. This shit is crazy right here, ladies and gentlemen...
HOVA and Yeezy throw it all down in the clip for "Ni**as In Paris"
As Mesh said, Warning: This video might cause a seizure.
Turn em up, kids. x
Dead Skeletons - Dead Mantra
This is hands down the darkest, grittiest, dirtiest song I've heard so far this year.
I'm a bit late to the party on Iceland's Dead Skeletons, but fashionably late is better than never.
"Dead Mantra" is a hypnotic trance of chanting rock that has cast a spell over me like a siren.
I double-dog-dare you to only listen to this magical track just once...
I'm on the third play in a row and I DON'T THINK I CAN STOP. x
Band of Skulls - Sweet Sour
I love everything that Band of Skulls puts out, but this just might be my new favorite...
"Sweet Sour" has a killer blues riff and their chorus harmonies are just infectious.
And check out this awesome acoustic set they recently did in New York.
Killing it every single time. x
Die Antwoord - I Fink U Freeky - Letterman
They fucking KILLED Letterman this week with their newest single.
"There's your halftime show. Who are we kiddin?" was all Dave could muster up after that.
Die Antwoord, like I said HERE, are the most original act on the planet. x
Jack White - Machine Gun Silhouette
And the fresh hits keep on coming from this long-awaited solo effort.
Jack White is hands-down the coolest motherfucker in all of rock n roll.
"Machine Gun Silhouette" is the latest single released by him and his Third Man Records.
You can stream the track at Hypem.
Please don't stop, Jack. x
The Black Keys - Gold On The Ceiling
Brand new video from the latest single from Ohio's Black Keys.
"Gold On The Ceiling" embraces the energy of their live performances so damn well.
These midwestern white boys continue to harness the blues like few before them.
They just make the whole rockstar job seem like a whole lotta fun. x
Lana Del Rey's Hunger Games
Second City's Holly Laurent parodies Lana Del Rey's song, "Video Games"
"Hunger Games" is obviously based on the best selling trilogy of the same name.
This is absolutely brilliant. And fucking hilarious. x
M.I.A. - Bad Girls (Official Video)
My chain hits my chest when I'm listening to this song.
New video from M.I.A. for "Bad Girls"
Gotta admit, it's fucking catchy... x
Super Mash Bros - Holy Guacamole
My friend and contributing editor, Mesh Lakhani, stumbled onto a rad mash up crew today.
LA-based Super Mash Bros have evaded my radar until now, but I'm onto their brilliance...
"Holy Guacamole" gets better and better as the mashes develop into mind-blowing collaborations.
The Postal Service + Ludacris? Yes, please.
Electric Guest - This Head I Hold
Asa
Taccone and Matthew Compton comprise the LA band Electric Guest.
Call
it electro groove pop.
Asa, the duo's front man, is the brother
of Jorma, from The Lonely Island.
He assisted in the songwriting of the
viral hit "Dick in the Box"
Electric Guest's debut EP Mondo debuts March 24th and is produced by Danger Mouse.
M.I.A. - Bad Girls
Fresh new track from M.I.A.
"Bad Girls" is her best effort in a while.
Video debuts tomorrow. Stay tuned... x
The Darkness - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us
FINALLY. A new track from The Darkness.
"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us" is an impressive comeback for the British rockers.
You have to love these guys. Just straight up classic rock throwback retro grooves.
Freddie Mercury would be proud. x
Die Antwoord - I Fink U Freeky
So. Here's the latest, and weirdest, from South African hip hop crew, Die Antwoord.
"I Fink U Freeky" is exactly what we should expect from these crazies, but it's always fun.
Long live Die Antwoord. In my opinion, this is the most original act of the last decade.
