A Remix Manifesto

This film blew my mind. No joke.

I thought I had a pretty firm stance on copyright. I had no fucking clue.

"The film's central protagonist is Girl Talk, a mash-up musician topping the charts with his sample-based songs. But is Girl Talk a paragon of people power or the Pied Piper of piracy? Creative Commons founder, Lawrence Lessig, Brazil's Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil and pop culture critic Cory Doctorow are also along for the ride."

Copyright laws have changed so drastically in the past decade or two that I wasn't even aware of how they now, almost exclusively, profit the corporation rather than the individual. Copyright is not just music and film, people, we are talking about prescription drugs, technology, you name it.

It is truly frightening how both Democratic and Republican leaders have altered copyright laws that were established 500 years ago to benefit companies like Disney and other media conglomerates.

Watch this film. Steal this film. It's an eye opener, man.

It's on Hulu.
